Ms. Pendo F. Magili

Pendo F. Magili is a social scientist working as a research assistant at the National Institute for Medical Research – Tanga Medical Research Centre. She holds Master of Public Health from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) where she graduated in 2022. Before joining NIMR, she worked as a Social welfare officer at Mkuranga District Council from June 2014 to April 2020 performing different activities like direct counselling of families, patients and other special groups, address legal issues in assisting with hearing and providing testimony relating to their clients, engaged in research and social policy development. She attended different trainings and awarded certificate of completion like training on Opportunities and obstacles to Development and Supervision Skills for most Vulnerable Children and their Families in Tanzania. As a research assistant with NIMR, her roles are preparing study protocols, collect and analyse data, preparing interview questions, prepare material for submission for grant agencies and foundation, preparing articles and presentation. She has been working on different studies under Epilepsy project including her thesis which was aimed at assessing barriers to formal education among individuals with epilepsy in Mahenge. Currently she is involved in Ethnographic study under Epilepsy Pathway Innovation in Africa (EPInA-Project) which aims to reduce burden of epilepsy in the area by improving Prevention, Diagnosis and Care for people with epilepsy.
